Abubakar Shekau:

Abubakar Shekau, the embattled leader of Boko Haram insurgent group had appeared in a new video to dispute the claims of the military that he was badly injured or probably dead from airstrikes weeks ago.

The Nigerian Air Force had in a statement last month said Shekau was badly injured from strikes targeted at a gathering of the militant group in Sambisa forest, believed to be the last stronghold of the insurgent group in Borno State.

But in a 40 minute long video message published on Youtube early Sunday, Shekau denies that claim that he has been killed or badly wounded. He spoke in Arabic, Hausa and the Kanuri language.

“Oh tyrants, I’m in a happy state, in good health and in safety,” Shekau said in the 40-minute video in which he appeared to be healthy.

Islamic State (IS) group – to which Boko Haram has pledged allegiance, had in July announced the replacement of Shekau with Abu Musab Albarnawi.

But Shekau has insisted he is still in charge of the terrorist group.

Too bad. But he is living on borrowed time. Let us do him and the world a big favor and kill him before he does himself and the world any more harm.
