The progress of Nigeria’s table tennis star, Aruna Quadri who has already had the enviable record of being the first African to reach the quarterfinals of men’s table tennis singles event at Olympic Games was halted on Tuesday evening as he was ruthlessly beaten by Chinese Ma Long.
The game between Long, the world’s number one player and Quadri ended 11-4, 11-2, 11-6, 11-7 4, thus denying the Nigerian what would have been the historic opportunity of proceeding to the seminal finals of the tennis event of Rio 2016 Olympic game.
Quadri set a continental record after he became the first African to reach the quarterfinals of men’s singles event at Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
