Mr. Jide Omokore, one of the business partners of Nigeria’s former oil minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, was arrested Friday by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He is expected to be charged today before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja on allegations of money laundering.
Mr Omokore was a major player in the oil sector during the last administration.
He had been interrogated several times over the murky oil deals during the Jonathan era.
He was said to have been arrested on Friday.
Omokore would be docked alongside a former Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Andrew Yakubu, his companies -Atlantic Energy Brass Development Limited and Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Limited.
