The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association said its members have lost 35 million cows since cattle rustling began on a high tempo.
National Chairman of the group, Alhaji Kiruwa Zuru gave the figure in Birni Kebbi in an interview with newsmen.
Kiruwa lamented the incessant rustling of the herdsmen’s cattle by criminals, stressing that law abiding cattle breeders had lost an estimated 35 million Cows to cattle rustlers.
He did not however use this to justify the carrying of AK 47 by some herdsmen.
It’s alien for herdsmen to carry weapons and asked the Federal Government to prosecute those who do so.
