The Director-General, National Pension Commission (PENCOM), has been named member of the London Stock Exchange (LSE), Africa Advisory Group.

Mrs Chinelo Anohu-Amazu,  was one of the financial experts from Africa, appointed by the London Stock Exchange (LSE) to provide advisory services on how to improve the African financial market.

The appointment was unfolded at the just-concluded inaugural meeting of the advisory group hosted by the LSE in London, said a statement by commission.

It stated that other members were drawn from the three largest stock exchanges in Sub-Saharan Africa, namely the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and Nairobi Securities Exchange.

The statement noted that the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Nairobi Securities Exchange accounted for approximately 80 per cent of the market capitalisation of public securities in Africa.

It added that the PENCOM DG and other members of the group would be examining issues affecting African market growth as well as give advice that could turn around the African capital market.
