Striker Ismaila Gata of Niger Tornadoes Football Club of Minna on Tuesday said they were sure of beating Shooting Stars of Ibadan on Wednesday in Lokoja.

Niger Tornadoes and Shooting Stars will face off in a Match Day Eight fixture in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

“We are going to use this match to shoot down the Shooting Stars.

“We will make sure they leave Lokoja empty handed. That is our resolve,’’ Gata told newsmen in Minna.

The striker, who has scored four goals in five appearances for Tornadoes this season, said the team’s players have reviewed their Match Day Seven performance.

He added that they consequently agreed to desist from making costly mistakes in other matches.

“We have been playing good football this season, and the management of the club is solidly behind us.

“So, we must put smiles on the faces of our handlers, as well as the entire Nigerlites.

“We know how passionate the people of Niger state are about the club,’’ Gata said, pointing out that the spirit in the club’s camp was high amongst the players.

“Anything short of victory will be detrimental to the club’s chances, even though the league is still young.’’

He then appealed to the club’s supporters to have faith in the team, especially now that the players were in top form.

Tornadoes, currently in 15th place on the league table, will travel to Umuahia for a Match Day Nine fixture against Abia Warriors at the weekend.
