A Secondary School Teacher in Ubima, the village of the former Governor Chibuike Amaechi in Ikwerre local Government,Mrs Ubaka Chukwu, was yesterday abducted on her way from school.

The husband of the abducted secondary teacher, Ubaka Chukwu, has confirmed the kidnap of his wife and lamented that the kidnappers have contacted him are demanding N5 million ransom before the wife could be released.

Chibuike Amaechi,,Minister for Transport on live radio programme last Saturday in Port Harcourt criticised Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, for abandoning the protection of lives and property of citizens of the state.

He decried the level of kidnappings, killings and the beheading of people in the state.

Samuel Nwanosike, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ikwerre local Government area and Assistant Publicity Secretary of the State Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, had phoned in and accused the former Governor Amaechi of not doing anything about the kidnapping rings and hideouts located in his community, Ubima.

Amaechi replied by saying that his people in Ubima have been at the receiving end of the rough edges of insecurity like kidnapping and that but for his appeal to the Chief of Army Staff for a deployment of soldiers to Ubima the security situation could have been worse alleging that the state Government refused to tackle insecurity in state.
