General manager, External Relations, NLNG, Kudo Eresia- Eke: debunks  air pollution story

Nigeria LNG   says it is untrue  that over 50 members  of  staff and community residents are seriously ‘sick and hospitalised’ as a result of ‘airborne disorder from dangerous gas ’ related to routine maintenance work being undertaken at our facility in Bonny.

Kudo Eresia-Eke , General Manager External Relations  for the company said the story was false.

“While there has been scheduled maintenance work going on in a section of our facility in Bonny since January, this is a routine activity to keep the plant reliability at world class levels, an activity  which we are proud to have carried out safely and efficiently annually over the past 15 years without negative incident, and are currently doing so once again.

“NLNG officials have always been available to respond to or confirm any information related to our company and our business, but we can state that no one at NLNG has been contacted to date on this issue.

“We are therefore compelled to view the conduct of the fabricators of this falsehood only as ill motivated and bizarre.

“NLNG wishes to assure all relevant stakeholders that it continues to conduct its activities in line with regulations and best practice, and is proud to point out that its safety records stand out as one of the best in the industry today. ”
