Oronsaye, ex-Head of Service, re-arrested by EFCC

Mr. Steve Oronsaye,  former head of service has been re-arrested by  the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a new charge of financial crime.

Oronsaye, who is already facing a N6.2billion pension fraud charge, was arrested at his home in Abuja  today.

The new offence is that as  Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, he  obtained money by false pretence from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

He was said to have collected  N240million from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Financial Action Task Force in the guise of  using the money to assist the Committee.

The money according to the EFCC was collected  without the knowledge of other committee members and proceeded to convert the said sum to his personal use.
