Professor Joseph Mba: charged with forgery

A Professor of management sciences,Joseph Mba was today docked before a Federal high court in Lagos South West Nigeria charged with three counts of forgery.

Police prosecuting counsel from Police Special Fraud Unit,Ikoyi Lagos chief superintendent of Police Effiong Asuquo, alleged that Mba with other persons now at large,sometime in May,2012 in Lagos, with intent to defraud,forged a special resolution of the Institute of Strategic Management.

The resolution dated 11 June,2012 stated that the name of the institute has been changed to Institute of Strategic Management Limited. It was signed by Mba and one Dr Austin Uwandulu.

The alleged forged document also named Barrister Samuel Ojo of Block A4,Suite10,Commerce Plaza,Area 1,Garki Abuja as Secretary/Legal Adviser of the company.

In the third count Professor Joseph Mba was accused of forging a special resolution of the AGM of the Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria Ltd dated 14th June,2012 stating that the company held an extra ordinary General meeting on 17th December,2011 appointing Directors of the company.

According to the charge, the directors purportedly appointed were named as Dr Hayford Ikpommosa Alile,Mazi Dr Samuel iheanyichukwu OhuAbunwa, Major General Abdumalik Haliu Giwa(retired) and Chief Austin Nonyelim Izagbo.

The accused pleaded not guilty to all the counts.

His counsel Barrister Ike Uko urged the court to give him a short adjournment date to enable him file bail application on behalf of the accused person.

The presiding judge,Saliu Saidu adjourned till 26th of March,2016 for trial. The bail application may however be heard before the trial date.
