The Director of Edo Fire Service Department, Mr. Frankly AgboLahor, Monday disclosed that cases of fire outbreak have been on the increase during the current Harmattan season.

Agbonlahor who made the disclosure during a chat with journalists in Benin, noted that there was hardly any day the Department has not been called for emergency services.

He said the department recorded numerous fire outbreaks during Christmas and new year public holidays, which he said were on the high side, when compared to previous seasons, describing it as “alarming.”

The Fire Service Department Director cautioned residents to imbibe proper house keeping habits in this Harmmattan season.

“There is need for proper house keeping at all times, especially this Harmmattan period, because the speed of wind is on the high side, unlike previous seasons.

“I have cautioned, warned, and sensitized the residents, and yet, most of us keep making the same mistakes,” Agbolahor said.

He however reiterated that is better to prevent than calling for help, adding that government cannot do it alone.
