Senator Olaka Nwogu: sacked by Appeal Court

Senator Olaka Nwogu,Chairman Senate Committee on Environment, who was sacked by the Appeal Court said although he does not agree with the appeal Court Judgement, he has no option but to accept it.

He insisted that there was an election contrary to the argument canvassed by Senator Magnus Abe, his opponent of All Progressives Congress, APC,at the Court of Appeal.

“Elections in Rivers State truly held and those who lost, lost very well. But they were able to come to court and hoodwink to prove otherwise. Good for them.I won’t join issues with the respectful institution that made the decision and interpretation of what really happened. Election was duly held in Rivers State.”

Senator Olaka Nwogu said the nullification of his mandate was a minor setback and did no remove the power of the people to chose who they want to represent them.

On his brief sojourn st the Senate he said he has spoken on behalf of his constuents and has networked on their behalf.

He said “I have deliberately worked for and become Chairman of Senate Committee on Environment. The hard work and everything was on course to tackle the thorny issue of degraded environment, especially for the people of Ogoni and the riverine areas I represent as a Senator. Everything was on course for us to have very good period of representation. This not the end of the world. If the people decide that I should continue with this journey so be it.It is left with people to decide.God…God willing we will have a successful outing.”

Meanwhile, Senator Magnus Abe,the APC candidate of Rivers South East Senatorial district  said he dedicates the Appeal Court victory to lovers of Justice.

Abe who was reacting shortly after the court judgement said:”The Nigerian judiciary gave us the opportunity to let the whole world know about what truly happened in Rivers state where election never held but some people went and declare results and made some people winners.I dedicate the victory to lovers of peace and justice across the country”.

Olaka Nwogu, was one out of the three Senators from Rivers State sacked by the Appeal Court.
