Ehis Ibhaze in the hospital

A 37-year old man, Abuchi Simon has been arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrate court for allegedly inflicting injury with kitchen knife on his neighbour, Ehis Ibhaze, over allegation of witchcraft in Lagos state western Nigeria. He accused Ibhaze of waging spiritual war against his family through witchcraft that hindered his progress.

The incident happened at 14 Ifelodun Street, Ilasamaja, Lagos where they reside. Simon reportedly targeted Ibhaze in their bathroom when he went to take his bath in the evening with a knife and started stabbing him and threatened to kill him.

TheNEWS gathered that both Simon and Ibhaze are married with children, but the two families have been at logger heads; their neighbours tried to settle to no avail. According their neighbours, Simon had accused Ibhaze of attacking him spiritually and threatened he would kill him if he did not desist from the attack. On the day of the incident happened, Simon reportedly ambushed and attacked Ibhaze suddenly to kill him. However, he was unable to kill him before neighbours rushed to the bathroom and rescued Ibhaze. He was rushed to a hospital where he is being treated.

The matter was reported to the police and Simon was arrested and taken to the station.
TheNEWS gathered that at the station, Simon claimed the victim was behind his predicaments by attacking him spiritually through witchcraft and he decided to settle the score once for all.
Simon was charged to court with wounding under the criminal code. He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor informed the court that the victim was seriously wounded and was still in a hospital.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Joy Ugbomoiko, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail. The matter was adjourned till 25 November 2015.
