Wife of the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of the Sun Newspapers, Toyin Nwosu, has spoken about her three-day ordeal in the hands of her abductors in Lagos, revealing that her abductors said they were paid to kill her.

The beautiful wife of the newspaper editor was kidnapped early on Monday by a seven-man armed gang who invaded her Okota residence.

“When I was in their captivity, they told me that somebody paid for my death. It was stated that they were hired to kill me. I don’t know why yet.

“They came into my house, packed many things; jewelries, wristwatches and gold. From there they took me away.

“They took me to their camp. They took me away in a boat. I was put in the jungle not in a room. At the jungle, my face was not covered. It was in the bush that I spent three nights until I was released. 

“It took them 30 minutes to take me in the speed boat to the jungle. On my way, it was dark I could only hear noise. I could not see anything.

“Throughout my stay, they asked me to eat but I refused. They were even begging me to eat. They asked me to request for any kind of food I wanted.

“They did that because they were expecting money but thank God, something touched their heart. And now I am alive. I was the only person there.

“At a point I was begging them to please release me. They told me that my husband didn’t want to pay. I told them that my husband does not have money; that he is a journalist.

“I was begging them all the while, especially the one that was beside me. I told him to plead with his brothers. He said he was going to try.

“When I learnt that I was going home I was so happy. The one that was communicating with my husband called me and begged me to eat that he heard that I didn’t want to eat.

” It was in the process of begging me that he told me that I would be going home on Thursday. After he told me I could not close my eyes again. When night came my heart was at home already.

“They told me that I should hold on, that that don’t want  to bring me out in the day light. When night came, they dropped me under the FESTAC Town new bridge around 2:15am.

“They did not give me money for transport because they knew someone would be waiting for me there. The only thing that they gave me was a phone that when I get to the land, I should call my husband.”

“This will not stop me from doing what I do best, which is helping people. I will continue to do good.

“I thank God and every other person that played a role in my freedom. I thank all Nigerians. Irrespective of what happened, I will keep doing good.

“I believe that the good I am doing will surely get me to higher place. Many times, that goodness turns sour, but I will encourage people to not be weighed down by how people pay back goodness.

“I don’t know why they treated me the way they did but I strongly believed that it was prayer that was at work. It was God that made them treat me nicely. But criminals will always be criminals. ”
