President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick, has disclosed that the senior national team; Super Eagles, will play an international friendly game against Congo on 8 October.

Pinnick, who was a guest on a Lagos television early on Monday, said the Eagles, who are currently second on the group table of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series, will play the friendly in Brussels, Belgium, while the team will take on Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions on 11 October also in Brussels.

“We are also working on a friendly against Tunisia or Algeria before the game against Egypt next year,” the NFF president, Pinnick said. He maintained that the football body and the entirely football family in the country have confidence in the ability of the newly appointed Coach Sunday Oliseh to take the Eagles to the next level. “We believe he (Oliseh) has demonstrated ability to lead us so far,” he said.

On NFF’s plan for any Nigerian willing to contest for the next FIFA presidential election, Pinnick informed that he “expects candidates to have consultations with major stakeholders as stated in the communiqué released last week. On our own part, we will facilitate a meeting with our parent body, CAF for any willing candidate.”

He disclosed that within the next few weeks, “we will unveil a sponsor for Nigerian women football. We are doing a lot underground and it will yield soon.” He also said that the Federation Cup will soon get a sponsor. “We are working hard to get a worthy sponsor for the Cup,” Pinnick said
