Islamists in Iraq and Nigeria appear subscribing to the same war tactics: capturing girls and children.

Just like the Boko Haram militants captured the Chibok schoolgirls 512 days ago,  Islamic State (IS) militants have  kidnapped 127 children in IS-held Iraqi city of Mosul to train them in the ranks of the terror group.

An official from Kurdistan Democratic Party, Saeed Mamouzini, confirmed on Wednesday in Baghdad that IS had kidnapped 127 children aged 11-15 over the past few days.

He said the children had been traced to the IS special camps for training on the use of weapons and implementation of terrorist operations.

Mamouzini said the father of one of the children killed two of the kidnappers in an attempt to prevent them from taking his child.

Terror group IS has occupied large swaths of territories in Iraq and Syria. Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq, has been under IS control since June 2014.
