The Kaduna State government  has  abolished  payment of fees for  admission forms and processes  which are usually paid by students seeking  admission into tertiary institutions in the state .

Kaduna Education Commissioner , Dr. Shehu Usman Adamu, who disclosed this shortly after the  cabinet meeting  said  all state government owned tertiary institutions  have been directed to comply with the directive .

According to  the commissioner, under no condition henceforth  should scratch cards be sold to admission-seekers for access to school portals .

Adamu who equally  hinted that the executive  council was  persuaded considering the  plight of students, maintained that admission into higher institutions should not be treated as a revenue source.

Adamu  said  the council also directed  that all non-teaching occupants of school quarters should vacate the premises within 90 days.

He equally informed that  teachers transferred to other schools  have six months to give up their former quarters.

The  State Executive Council during the executive meeting  has approved a draft Fiscal Responsibility Bill, according to the  Finance Commissioner Suleiman Kwari .

He said  the Fiscal Responsibility Bill is designed to help protect the state from fiscal indiscipline and reform public financial management in the state.

The bill according the Finance Commissioner,  which will be  submitted to the state’s House of Assembly for legislation will   provide  for an independent commission to monitor and enforce the provisions of the proposed law.

The Finance Commissioner also reminded MDAs that extant laws prohibit the receipt of cash payments from members of the public.
