Rescue officials battling to save one of the passengers of the Bristow copter on Wednesday

Rescuers have pulled two more bodies from the Lagos Lagoon at Oworonshoki, bringing to six the number of deaths when a helicopter plunged into the water in a ball of fire in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos.The bodies were said to be those of the pilot and co-pilot.

Marine police and fishermen calling for body bags raced to a dock on Thursday. A rescue official confirmed they are carrying two bodies but spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to give information to journalists.

Four bodies were recovered on Wednesday after the crash of a U.S.-made Sikorsky S-76C+ belonging to the Houston, Texas-based Bristow Group.

Six people are recovering from injuries in the hospital, according to spokesman Ibrahim Farinloye of the National Emergency Management Agency.

The agency’s coordinator Onimode Bandele says all the victims appear to be Nigerian.
