Governor Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State has fired the state Accountant-General Ngozi Y.Abu with immediate effect.
Simeon Nwakaudu, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, in a statement, said Sir Dagogo R.Abere, Director of Treasury, had been appointed as Acting Accountant General with immediate effect.
It is not clear the reason for the sack of the Account-General. However, the Wike administration had commenced probing his predecessor, Chibuike Amaechi, over alleged financial improprieties. The Accountant-General may have been caught in the crossfire.
