The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has back-pedalled on its policy to redistribute students, who failed to get admissions into universities they chose, to other universities who have admission vacancies.

Mr. Fabian Benjamin, the public relations of the agency announced the new decision, urging students to go to the universities they applied to for their post UTME.

JAMB’s decision followed legal threats by students and Academic Staff Union of Universities.

And the Federal Government also applied pressure, going by the disclosure of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. MacJohn ‎Nwaobiala‎.

He told State House correspondents on Tuesday after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari of his ministry’s activities that the Federal Government has ordered JAMB to put the idea on hold.

He said the Federal Government is looking into the controversy over the cut-off marks for students seeking admission into universities.

Nwaobiala, therefore, urged students who made the cut-off marks to proceed to their universities of first and second choices to write the post-University Matriculation Examinations (UME).
