Serbia’s Viktor Troicki is through to the Wimbledon fourth round for the second time in seven appearances after beating Rafael Nadal’s conqueror, Dustin Brown, 6-4, 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-3 on Saturday at The Championships.

The Serb will face either Vasek Pospisil of Canada or home favourite James Ward on Monday for a place in his first Grand Slam quarter-final.

The 22nd-seeded Troicki defeated Brown in two hours and 18 minutes on No. 3 Court, firing 24 aces and hitting 59 winners to just 13 unforced errors in the pair’s first meeting. The last time he reached the Wimbledon fourth round, he lost out to Novak Djokovic in 2012.

The 29-year-old Troicki reached his first ATP World Tour grass-court final three weeks ago at the MercedesCup in Stuttgart, finishing runner-up to Nadal, and was a semi-finalist a week later at The Queen’s Club (l. to Murray).

Brown had earned his third-round spot after a stunning upset over two-time champion Nadal on Thursday. The 30-year-old German, who had qualified into the main draw, was bidding to reach the fourth round of a major for the first time.
