NIMET issues red alert on 7 Sokoto Councils prone to flooding

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has alerted that seven local governments in Sokoto State are prone to flooding in the 2015 raining season.

Mr Bashir Suleiman, the Sokoto Zonal Coordinator of the agency on Saturday named the councils asKware, Gwadabawa, Wamakko, Sabon-Birnmi, Silame, Dange/Shuni and Tureta.

Suleiman in a statement urged all the relevant emergency management agencies in the state to be on red alert.

“This is with the view to taking the necessary precautionary measures in the event of the occurrence of the unexpected,’’ he stated.
