Various reports today indicated that either Swiss drug makers, Roche or US based Johnson and Johnson may be planning a take-over of another drug giant GlaxoSmithKline.

According to reports, the offer price may be in the region of £92billion.

Any bid for GSK would represent the latest attempt at sector consolidation following last year’s failed effort by US giant Pfizer to take out UK rival AstraZeneca.

A £32billion bid by AbbVie of the US to buy British drug-maker Shire also collapsed amid fears about a US regulatory crackdown on corporate tax avoidance.
