Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Speaker, House of Representatives, and Sokoto state governor-elect, on Saturday in Yola advised winners in the last general elections to ensure good governance when they assume office.

Tambuwal, who spoke at Government House, Yola, said the people were yearning for good governance.

The speaker said upon assumption of office, politicians should stop politicking and concentrate on good governance.

He urged leaders to be honest and committed to their mandate, and advised them to relate well with the people.

“We are done with politicking and now is time for governance. What Nigerians are yearning for is good governance and that is why they have elected us.

“I am calling on those who emerged victorious at the last polls to face governance and stop politicking. They should be honest and dedicated to the mandate which the people gave to them,’’ he said.

Tambuwal described Adamawa Gov. Bala Ngilari as a man of destiny, commending him for ensuring that normalcy returned to the state.

The speaker who was on a private visit to the state, thanked the Lamido Adamawa for bestowing on him the traditional title of `Wakilin Raya kasan Adamawa’.

Earlier, Ngilari had commended the speaker for the able manner in which he piloted the affairs of the House.

He described Tambuwal’s visit to Adamawa as a home coming.
