Windstorm destroys 100 homes in Zamfara

No fewer than 100 houses were destroyed by windstorm in Daki-Takwas village in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara state, northwest Nigeria.

The Sole Administrator of the council, Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad,said this was not the first time people had experienced wind disaster, added that windstorm had been a threat to lives and property in some places across the state.

He said that the state government had through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) provided assistance to victims of such incidents at different times.

He urged the victims to take the incident as an act of God, saying that the damages done would be assessed for possible assistance.

“I will make sure the area is assessed very well and assistance will be given to the victims to reduce tension,’’ he said.
