Governor Ibikunle Amosun of the All Progressives Congress,APC has been officially declared the winner of the governorship election in Ogun State.

The Returning Collating Officer in the State,Prof.Duro Oni made the announcement in Abeokuta today, declaring that Amosun polled the highest votes among the candidates of the 16 political parties which participated in the election.

The APC candidate scored 306,988 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP candidate Gboyega Isiaka polled 201,440 votes.

The total registered voters in the state was put at 1759754 while 599,486 people were accredited to vote.

The total valid votes recorded was 555,430 while total rejected votes was 22,948 with total votes cast being 578,378.

Chairman of the Amosun Campaign Group, Bode Mustapha and Asiwaju Jide Awosedo expressed gratitude to the good people of the state for returning the governor.

The duo promised the people of more dividends of democracy as the state will now be having support from the centre.

The entire city of Abeokuta is now agog as youths,market men and women are jubilating round the town to expressed satisfaction.

Speaking earlier before the announcement,the State Resident Electoral Commissioner,Chief Timothy Ibitoye thanked the good people of the state for their resilience, cooperation and understanding they had with him and his team.
