The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday declared Mr James Faleke, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, the winner of Ikeja Federal Constituency House of Representatives election of March 28.

INEC Returning Officer, Mr Dele Ashiru, made this declaration at about 6a.m. at the end of the collation of the results on March 30 at the Central Primary School, Ikeja GRA.

According to him, APC scored the highest number of votes to emerge the winner.

”I confirmed that the election was contested and the candidates received the following votes:

”Honourable James Faleke of All Progressives Congress received a total of 33, 375 votes.

”Funmilola Olaniyi of the PPA received 50 votes and Eng. Olakunle M. Okunola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 25, 447 votes.

”That honourable James Abiodun Faleke of the All Progressives Congress, having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” he said.

Also on Monday, the INEC declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the Federal House of Representatives seat for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.

Prof. Carol Opara, the INEC Collation/Returning Officer for the council area, made the announcement shortly after the collation of results ended.

Opara said that although the election at the constituency started on March 28, voting did not end until March 29, while collation ended on Monday.

She said that the five parties that contested in the election were MPPP, APC, KOWA, SDP and PDP.

Opara announced that APC had 27,421 to win the constituency, while other scores were PDP 21,312, KOWA 53, SDP 20 and MPPP 11 votes.

According to her, the registered voters at the constituency are 277,867; accredited voters, 56,885; total valid votes, 48,822; total rejected votes, 4,251 while total votes cast were 53,073.
