Chris Eza: murdered by junior officer

Former Aide-de-camp to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Chris Ifeanyichukwu Eza, has been murdered by his subordinate, a junior officer in the Mopol 10 in Bauchi State, Nigeria.

The police authority confirmed this on Friday saying Eza, a Squadron in the Mopol 10, was shot five times by a yet to be named junior officer on Thursday night.

The alleged officer, however turned himself in for arrest after realising the degree of the crime he had committed.

Eza, an indigene of Erowha in Isoko South Council Area, was said to have been killed by the suspect after they had a minor argument.

It was learnt that the suspected police officer went up in an uncontrollable rage, shooting Eza five times.

The victim died before reaching the hospital.

According to the Police Public Relation Officer for Bauchi State, DSP Haruna Mohammed, “the victim was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi where he was certified dead by a Medical Doctor and the corpse deposited at the Mortuary for postmortem examination.”

He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mohammed K. Mohammed, and his team had visited the scene of the incident and that the Commissioner has ordered that the incident be thoroughly investigated.

He also confirmed that the suspect, a police corporal, had been arrested and detained.

Few years ago, Eza and his orderly were shot when the convoy of Uduaghan was attacked along the Benin-Warri highway at Oghara, Delta State.

He survived after medical attention.

Reports said his father, a former Divisional Police Officer, was killed during an armed robbery attack years ago.
