Traditional rulers in the South Senatorial District, in central Nigerian state of Kwara on Thursday pledged their support for the re-election of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.

The Olupo Ajase-Ipo, Oba Sikiru Sanni; the Oloro of Oro Kingdom, Oba Rafiu Ajiboye; and the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Charles Ibitoye all separately pledged to support Ahmad’s re-election bid when the APC campaign team visited their respective palaces.

•Gov Ahmed:

Sanni said the call for the support toward the re-election bid of Gov. Ahmed was to give the administration the opportunity to complete its ongoing projects across nooks and crannies of the state.

He expressed the desire of the people of the community to support government at all levels toward ensuring the sustenance of the nation’s democratic system.

“We want to assure the government of our continuous support, includingthe re-election bid of our governor at the poll.

“This, we hope, will translate into adequate and prompt distribution of the dividend of democracy in most of the communities.”

Ajiboye, on his part, urged the people to join hand with the government in its efforts to achieve free and fair elections and move the country forward.

He said the responsibility for a hitch free poll has gone beyond the scope of government alone but a collective duty of all stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives.

Ibitoye expressed the community’s appreciation to both Gov.Ahmed and APC leader in the state, Dr. Bukola Saraki, for being sensitive to the yearnings and aspiration of the people of the community.

In his remarks, Gov. Ahmed identified the dwindling allocation from the federation account as a major hndrance towards the completion of some community based projects.

He assured the people of more dividend of democracy if re-elected into office.

On his part, Saraki urged the people who were yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so, saying that the PVC remained a vital document in the discharge of their civic responsibility.
