Lagos deputy governor loses dad

Alhaji Jimoh Kareem-Laka Orelope, the father of the Lagos State deputy governor, has died.

He was aged 101. He will be buried in Lagos on Friday.

He was born to Akeja Oniyanru and Olugbede Royal families of Lagos State on the 25 February 1913.

According to an obituary statement from his daughter’s office, Pa Jimoh Laka was a philanthropist, who was concerned about the plight of the less privileged.

He was also involved in community development and the propagation of the Islamic faith.

He is survived by his wife, children, grand children and great grand- children. Among his children is the deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.
