Jeb Bush: may join 2016 race for White House

Jeb Bush, a son and brother of US presidents, says he plans to release an ebook and his emails from his Florida governorship, in the strongest indication yet he may throw his hat in the 2016 White House race.

Bush — son of George H.W. Bush and brother of George W. Bush — told ABC television’s “This Week” for an interview set to air Sunday that he will make public 250,000 official emails.

It has “been kind of fun to go back and to think about this, and remind myself that if you run with big ideas and then you’re true to those ideas, and get a chance to serve and implement them and do it with passion and conviction, you can move the needle,” the former Florida governor said in the interview, excerpts of which were released Saturday.

“And that’s what we need right now in America.”

Bush is expected to announce his plans early next year.

The decision seems to be getting clearer for the businessman who many Republicans hope can help their party reach out to Hispanics. Jeb’s wife, Columba Bush, is from Mexico, and he speaks Spanish.

“I think it’s more than likely that he’ll run. The family will be behind him 100 percent if he decides to,” said the couple’s son, George P. Bush.
