The European Union, EU on Monday said by attacking the Kano Central Mosque, Boko Haram insurgents have again shown their complete disrespect for the sacredness of human life, as well as their desire only to spread terror and suffering. Over 100 lives were lost to the attack.

While lamenting the loss of lives in the bomb attack, EU in a statement by its High Representative/Vice President Federica Mogherini expressed its condolences to the Muslim community, Nigerians and government over the loss of lives in attack.

EU also pledged to continue to support Nigerian authorities in the fight against the terrorists.

“The fatal explosion in the Central Mosque in Kano during Friday prayers has caused terrible loss of life.

“By targeting a Muslim place of worship the terrorists have again shown their complete disrespect for the sacredness of human life, as well as their desire only to spread terror and suffering.

“The EU expresses its condolences to the families of those victims, the Muslim community and all Nigerians.

“The EU stands with the Nigerian authorities and its people in the fight against terrorism and the respect for human rights,” the EU said in the statement.
