The South-West Mobilisation Committee Chairman of Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Buruji Kashamu, on Sunday called for a free and fair PDP governorship primary election in Ogun.

He said that a credible governorship primary election would increase the chances of the party to secure the state’s governorship seat.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos, Kashamu said that all the governorship aspirants of the party should be given a level playing ground to contest the primary election.

“Eleven aspirants bought the PDP governorship nomination forms. Those 11 people should be allowed to test their popularity among the members of the party in the state.

“If we are allowed to choose our own candidate, we will deliver Ogun for PDP in 2015,” he said.

Kashamu urged the national leadership of the PDP to investigate the controversy emanating from the party’s House of Assembly primary election held on Nov. 29 in the state.
He urged that the true winners of the election be endorsed by the party to avoid unnecessary litigations.

“The delegates that voted in the congress were certified by INEC and approved by the national working committee of our party,’’ he said.
