The Deputy Chief Whip of Gombe State House of Assembly, Mr Sunday Danlele, has failed to scale the first hurdle to ensure his return to the house.

In Saturday’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in his constituency, Danlele, who represents Billiri East at the assembly, was defeated by Mr Randy Ayala, with 13 votes to the incumbent’s eight.

The third aspirant, Mr Jimmy Sanda, also had eight votes.

The Commissioner for Justice, Mr Ibrahim Abdulhamid, who announced the results, said the election was free and fair.

But NAN correspondents monitoring the primaries reported that the election for Billiri West constituency was inconclusive.

Party supporters, officials and other persons, at the venue, scampered for safety when security operatives tried to disperse the crowd.

In Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area, the Speaker of the house, Mr Inuwa Garba (Yamaltu West), Malam Nasiru Lolo (Deba) and Malam Umar Hinna (Yamaltu East), were returned unopposed.
