Sani Abubakar Danladi: appoints new SSG

The Acting Governor of Taraba state, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi, has appointed, Mr Timothy Kataps, as the Secretary to the State Government.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Government House, Alhaji Hassan Mijinyawa, in Jalingo on Saturday.

Mijinyawa said that Kataps, a former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, would be sworn in on Monday.

Danladi was reinstated by the Supreme court on Friday, which nullified his impeachment and ordered that he should be sworn in immediately.

The impeached and reinstated former deputy governor, replaced Alhaji Garba Umar, who had been acting following the plane crash suffered by incumbent Gov. Danbaba Suntai.

Danladi was impeached by the House of Assembly on 4 October, 2012, less than 3 weeks before Suntai had a brain injury from a plane crash in Yola.

The house had alleged that Danladi was involved in gross misconduct and abuse of office.

But after the Supreme Court verdict Friday, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Bello Adoke, directed the acting Governor of Taraba, Alhaji Garba Umar, to immediately hand over power to Abubakar Danladi in order to prevent a vacuum.

“Garba should hand over the reins of governance to the Abubakar Danladi to ensure smooth transition and to prevent a vacuum in governance in the state. It will also guarantee the maintenance of constitutional order,’’said a statement from Adoke’s office.

Adoke also called on the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, to provide adequate security in the state in order to prevent any break down of law and order during the transition period.
