The Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo has been approved as host venue for Nigeria’s final 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifying match against South Africa in November, after receiving high ratings from a Confederation of African Football official Fred Crentsil.

Crentsil, who is also Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), stated he was hugely impressed with the facilities available in the stadium especially with the provisions made for disabled persons.

According to him, ”It is one of the best I have seen anywhere around Africa and elsewhere. It is of the same standard and mould as Soccercity [in Johannesburg] with a lower capacity.”

The GFA executive added, ”I am particularly amazed that there are provisions for the physically–challenged persons. Everything is taken care of here.”

Nigeria currently lie third in Group A of the 2015 AFCON qualifier, behind South Africa and Congo, with the Super Eagles needing victory in its final two matches away at Congo on November 11 and in Uyo against South Africa four days later to have a chance of reaching Morocco 2015.
