Spain edges Turkey for UN Security Council seat

Spain was elected to the UN Security Council on Thursday, roundly defeating Turkey for the seat during a vote at the UN General Assembly.

Spain joins Angola, Malaysia, New Zealand and Venezuela as the newest members to the top UN body, which has the power to impose sanctions and authorize the use of force.
