The list of nominees for the 2014 Nigerian Sports Award has been released with Super Falconets forward Asisat Oshoala leading the way with three nominations while goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, midfielder Ogenyi Onazi as well as sprint queen Blessing Okagbare follow with two nominations each.

Enyeama is nominated for the Male Footballer of the Year award alongside Ogenyi Onazi and Emmanuel Emenike, as well as for the Sportsman of the Year award alongside Onazi again and Osaze Odemwingie.

Commonwealth double gold medallist Okagbare on her part is nominated for the Track and Field Athlete of the Year alongside Commonwealth long jump gold medallist Ese Brume.

25-year old Okagbare is also nominated for the Sportswoman of the Year award alongside Super Falconets duo Asisat Oshoala and Courtney Dike.

Oshoala, who was named Most Valuable Player at the last FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada, is also nominated for the Female Footballer of the Year award alongside Desire Oparanozie and Dike Courtney.

In other award categories, interim Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi is nominated for the Coach of the Year award alongside Peter Dedevbo of the Super Falconets and Manu Garba.
The Ball Sports category has Aruna Quadri, who won the award last year, nominated with Segun Totiola and Onaolapo Ojo while Oshoala gets a third nomination in the Discovery of the Year category alongside Ese Brume and Courtney Dike.

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola is nominated for the Sports Governor of the Year alongside Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State and Liyel Imoke of Cross River State.

Winners of each category will emerge via voting and announced at a ceremony later this year.
