Former Super Falcons Coach Dies

A former coach of the Nigerian women’s national football team, Ntiero Effiom has passed on during a brief illness in his hometown near Calabar the Cross River State capital.

Effiom had suffered a stroke on Saturday and was taken to a hospital where he died in the early hours of Wednesday.

He was coach of the Super Falcons between 2004 and 2007, leading Nigeria to a 5th successive African Women’s Championship triumph in 2006.

Effiom was also former coach of Cross River State club side Pelican Stars before his time with the Super Falcons and won multiple league titles during his spell there.
