National team coach of Kenya, Adel Amrouche has been handed a one-year suspension by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) disciplinary board for his conduct during a Cup of Africa Nations qualifying match.

Amrouche was suspended by CAF as a result of an altercation with the fourth official during Kenya’s qualifying match at Comoros in June which saw the Harambe Stars coach spit at the fourth official.

According to a statement by CAF General Secretary, Hicham El Amrani said ”The CAF disciplinary board has decided to suspend coach Adel Amrouche for a period of 12 months from all CAF activities for spitting towards the reserve referee of the (Comoros vs Kenya) match.”

The statement further read that the disciplinary board decided not to fine Amrouche though it would notify FIFA of his suspension with a view to extending the coach’s suspension onto the international level.

Amrouche’s suspension is effective from July 20 and he has three days to appeal the disciplinary board’s decision.
