Ilorin- PDP Chairman in Kwara, Iyiola Oyedepo on Monday, said the state chapter would replicate the victory recorded by the party in Ekiti State in Saturday’s governorship election.PDP

Oyedepo gave the assurance in Ilorin while addressing party supporters during a solidarity rally to celebrate the success of the governor-elect of Ekiti State, Dr Ayodele Fayose.

He said the PDP family in Kwara was very happy and joyous over the defeat of APC Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, by the PDP.

“Yes, we are deeply happy in Kwara because we can see our own victory around the corner.

“Our sister state, Ekiti, ruled by APC lost to PDP in a fairly and credibly conducted election on Saturday,” the chairman said.

Oyedepo commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for free, fair and credible polls and urged it to continue to midwife credible elections in the country.

“We now have implicit confidence in INEC because it has proven doubting people wrong.

“INEC was able to conduct a credible election in Ekiti State, and we are sure it would do better here next year,” Oyedepo said.

He declared that APC could never win any election in the state in a free and fair atmosphere adding. “

“Kwara people are yearning for change and we are the agent of that change.

“We are not talking about change in the tradition of APC, but we are talking of qualitative change,” he said.

He said the APC government in Kwara was not popular.

Oyedepo said that “in a free and fair election, PDP will defeat APC hands down because we are more popular in the state.

The chairman told PDP members that the victory recorded in Ekiti State was due to the voters’ cards used in the election.

He, therefore, appealed to PDP members to collect their permanent voters’ cards as from July 18, when INEC would commence the

distribution.

“This is your passport for victory and to elect new leaders into the government house in 2015,” Oyedepo said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that PDP supporters were in joyous mood as they sang, danced and made merry for the victory.

Some PDP members carried placards with inscriptions like “as in Ekiti, so shall it be in Kwara”, “victory for Ekiti, victory for all”, and “Kwara PDP for better change”.
