Ado-Ekiti – An NGO, Women Arise for Change Initiative, on Friday conducted a training programme for 35 observers participating in Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti.

The State Coordinator of the NGO, Mr Gbenga Ganzello, said the essence of the training initiative was to educate participants on how to observe flaws and challenges in the voting process.

Ganzello said the participants were not expected to vote nor assist electoral officials in carrying out their duties.

He said observers must, however, ensure that all ballot boxes were empty while ballot papers were checked.

The coordinator also advised the participants to be honest, sincere and fair when reporting from the scene of a polling unit.

He also warned them against involvement in any form of malpractice, saying the organisation was committed to tackling electoral misconduct.(NAN)
