Notable Nigerians have continued to pay tributes to the late revered Kano monarch, Alhaji Ado Abdullahi Bayero who died in his sleep at the early hours of Friday in his Palace in Kano, northwest Nigeria.

Kano state Governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, Senate Chief Whip, Senator Bello Hayatu and All Progressive Congress Chieftain in Bauchi state, Malam Ali Wakili all praised the late Emir Ado Bayero describing him as peaceful, accommodating and highly religious.

Kwankwaso described the death of Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero as a great loss not only to the people of the state, but to the nation and beyond.

Kwankwaso spoke to journalists immediately after he paid a condolence visit to the Emir Palace.

He was received by Wambai Kano who is also the Senior Councilor of the Emirate, Alhaji Abbas Sunusi.

The Kano number one citizen said the vacuum created by the death could hardly be filled considering the versed experience of the late Emir Ado Bayero who worked with 17 governors in the state as well as worked as an ambassador of Nigeria.

“The Emir has been on the throne for over 50 years, in these years we have seen so much, right from the days of first governor of Kano state, Late Audu Bako was appointed, the late Emir was already on throne up to this Friday when we woke up and heard that the Emir has died,” Kwankwaso said.

Governor Kwankwaso extended his condolence message to the family of the late Emir, the emirate council, associates and people of the state for the unavoidable death of Late Ado Bayero.

He prayed to Almighty God to give the family the courage to bear the loss, to compensate the Emir with the highest paradise.

The Governor also condoled with the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar over the death of the Emir at Nassarawa Annex Palace where the Late Ado Bayero was buried.

Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo described the death of Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero as a monumental loss to the country, “he was easy going Emir who encouraged the worship of God through numerous Islamic religious engagements that he spearheaded in his life time”.

Gwarzo noted that Bayero died when his wisdom was needed to achieve peace and stability in the country, just as he condoled with the family and prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Malam Ali Wakili described the demise of Emir Ado Bayero as the end of an era.

“The death of Alhaji Ado Bayero is a big blow not only to Kano but to the northern Nigeria and the nation. The late Emir was a First Class traditional ruler, he was a bastion of unity and a beacon of the northern identity.”

Wakili, a retired Customs officer who also holds the title of Fagachin Bauchi further extolled the life and times of the departed monarch, saying, “the late Emir Bayero was a classic and shining example of the Sokoto Caliphate in terms of its ideals, most especially, promoting the virtues of justice.

“Emir Ado Bayero was a great pillar of the unity and cohesion of Nigeria as exemplified by his voice when things begin to get awry, when the ship begins to be stormy and his strong interpersonal relationship with other Nigerians and people of neighbouring nations is worthy of emulation,” Wakili noted.
