The Super Eagles of Nigeria this evening played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Scotland in an international friendly played at Fulham’s Craven Cottage in London.

Following a pulsating start to the match, Scotland took a 10th minute lead through an audacious Charlie Mulgrew flick and were denied a second after 33 minutes as Nigeria’s goalkeeper Austin Ejide was adjudged to have been fouled.

Nigeria managed to level scores four minutes before the break courtesy of a deflected Michael Uchebo strike but the Scots restored their lead six minutes into the second half thanks to a Kevin Odunlami own goal.

Shaun Maloney then had a goal ruled out for offside just past the hour mark as Scotland threatened to add to the lead and extend their winning streak in international matches to six.

Osaze Odemwingie meanwhile came on as a second half substitute, for his first appearance for Nigeria in just over a year as Nigeria’s coach Stephen Keshi looked to salvage a result from the encounter.

And with the Scots seconds away from victory, substitute Uche Nwofor scrambled home a stoppage time equaliser for Nigeria.

The match was part of Nigeria’s preparations for the forthcoming 2014 World Cup kicking off in June, with Keshi rested a number of first team players including goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and midfielder John Mikel Obi.

The Super Eagles will next face Greece in another friendly on June 3, a day after the FIFA deadline for submission of the list of the final 23-man squad, before meeting with the United States on June 8.

Nigeria is in Group F of the World Cup alongside Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran, against whom the Super Eagles get their campaign underway on June 16.
