Benin – Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Tuesday in Benin inaugurated the boards of Edo City Transport Services (ECTS) and the Edo State Forestry Management.

Inaugurating the boards, Oshiomhole said the members were carefully selected based on their pedigree.

He charged the members to provide qualitative leadership, and formulate policies that would safeguard the services of the boards.

Oshiomhole said he was convinced that the contributions of the board members would add value to the two organisations.

He advised the ECTS board to work and ensure that the company’s fleet of buses was increased from the present 100 to a higher number.

He urged the state forestry management board to ensure that forests in the state were protected and not devastated by illegal felling of trees.

He charged the board of the forestry management to look holistically on how to protect the environment.

Responding, Chief Sunny Uyigue, Chairman of ECTS board, said that the appointment of the members was a call to duty, adding that the board members would do their best to lift the company to a higher height.

Similarly, Mr Samson Abu, Chairman of the state forestry management, assured that the board would work in line with the extant law on forestry management. (NAN)
