The National Industrial Court sitting in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State has restrained the authority of the University of Ibadan, UI from ejecting Dr Adenike Ogunshe, lecturer 11 of the Department of Microbiology from her official quarters pending the determination of her suit challenging her sack from the Premier institution.

Ruling on the ex parte motion filed by the appellant, Justice Firstina Kola-Olalere ordered that the institution should not eject the claimant from her official residence and slated the case for hearing on January 19, 2017.

Earlier, counsel to the appellant, Femi Aborisade noted that the appointment of his client was wrongly terminated because the termination did not follow a due process adding that the termination was unconstitutional, unlawful and a violation of her rights to life, natural justice and fair hearing.

Aborisade urged the court not only to set aside the purported termination but to also reinstate the appellant to her position without any loss of earnings, salaries and allowances.

He also asked the court to order the respondents to pay a total sum of N8 million as general damages for failure to give the equitable three months notice before termination of the claimant’s appointment.

Ogunshe, who specialised in Applied Microbiology and Infectious Diseases got fired base on series of allegations bordering on alleged neglect of her job and insubordination.

According to UI governing council decision Saturday May 28, 2011, of which the magazine have access to, the council recommenced stiff penalty for Ogunshe for not teaching some of postgraduate courses in the Departments of Botany and Microbiology.

Also, she was alleged that she had not been lecturing the courses assigned to her: MIC 307, Immunology and MIC 407, Pathogenic Microbiology.
