Kogi: Former Speaker Kolawole reaffirms APC membership

A former speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince Mathew Kolawole has rated the chances of the ruling party very high in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. He noted that if it was the turn of President Bola Tinubu to assume office in 2023, then 2027 is his turn for a second term.

Kolawole bore his mind on Monday in Lokoja while debunking rumours of his defection from the ruling party to the opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC. He reaffirmed his membership of the ruling party, emphasizing his unalloyed loyalty to its leadership in the state epitomised by former governor Yahaya Bello and incumbent governor Ahmed Ododo.

‎Kolawole attributed the rumours of his disloyalty to “mischief makers and enemies of the party,” insisting that those peddling such claims were only out to cause division within the APC.

‎He further announced plans to organize a programme in Kabba in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid. According to him, the event would serve as a clear message that he remains “APC back and front.”

‎The former lawmaker congratulated the President on his victory at the just concluded presidential primaries and also commended Governor Ododo for the party’s outstanding performance at the senatorial and House of Representatives primaries in Kogi State.

Kolawole called for a joint effort by all Nigerians in the fight against insecurity, noting that the government alone can not do it. He also charged traditional rulers on land allocation to strangers and native security apparatus.
