
Dapo Abiodun joined distinguished dignitaries on Monday at the centenary celebration marking the 100th birthday of elder statesman, Reuben Fasoranti, OFR, CFR.
The historic occasion brought together notable personalities from across the country to celebrate the remarkable life, legacy, and enduring contributions of the revered nationalist, whose influence in public service, democratic advocacy, and socio-political development has spanned several decades.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima, underscoring the national significance of the celebration and the immense respect accorded to Pa Fasoranti for his unwavering commitment to national unity, good governance, and the advancement of the Yoruba socio-political cause.
As part of activities commemorating the milestone, a bridge named in honour of the celebrant was also commissioned, serving as a lasting tribute to his exceptional contributions to society, nation-building, and his lifelong dedication to leadership and service.
Governor Abiodun described the occasion as a moment of honour and reflection on a life devoted to integrity, courage, and selfless service to humanity.
The governor paid glowing tribute to the centenarian for his immense contributions to Nigeria’s democratic process, describing Pa Fasoranti as one of the foremost voices of justice, equity, and progressive governance in the country.
Governor Abiodun noted that the elder statesman’s steadfast commitment to democracy, good governance, and national development has continued to inspire generations of leaders and Nigerians across ethnic and political divides.
He further commended Pa Fasoranti’s courage and consistency in championing the ideals of fairness, unity, and true federalism, even during difficult periods in the nation’s history, adding that his life remains a shining example of patriotism, integrity, and purposeful leadership.
