A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has adjourned till July 10, 2026, for the continuation of the trial of a Lagos businessman, GOD’SPOWER PHILLIP ODIETE, who allegedly conspired with two other persons now at large to import 13.5 kilogrammes of cannabis.
The defendant is facing a two-count charge of alleged conspiracy and importation of cannabis.
The NDLEA prosecuting counsel, Barrister F.S. Ajagu, after leading her second prosecution witness in evidence, told the court that she intends to call four more witnesses before closing her case. The defence counsel, Chief Dennis Warri, did not raise any objection.
Thereafter, the presiding Judge, Justice Daniel Osiagor, adjourned the case till July 10, 2026, for continuation of trial.
The two-count charge was filed before the court by the NDLEA Senior Prosecuting Counsel, Barrister Adekunle Adebajo.
The Charge
COUNT 1
That you, GOD’SPOWER PHILLIP ODIETE, male, adult, on or about the 17th day of May, 2024, at Tincan Island Port, Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, without lawful authority, conspired with VICTOR ADDAH and EJIMNKOYE LIVINUS (both at large) to import 13.5 kilogrammes of Cannabis Indica, a narcotic drug similar to cocaine, heroin and LSD, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 14(b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
COUNT 2
That you, GOD’SPOWER PHILLIP ODIETE, male, adult, on or about the 17th day of May, 2024, at Tincan Island Port, Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, without lawful authority, imported 13.5 kilogrammes of Cannabis Indica, a narcotic drug similar to cocaine, heroin and LSD, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 11(a) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
