Ganduje Recognizes Emir Sanusi as Murtala Sule Garo Takes Oath of Office as Deputy Governor

It was a dramatic atmosphere at the Ante-Chamber, Government House, Kano, on Tuesday, when former Governor of Kano State and immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, recognized former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Muhammadu Sanusi II, as the Emir of Kano.

Ganduje made the declaration during the swearing-in ceremony of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State.

Recall that Ganduje had dethroned Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano in 2020 and installed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, the first son of the late Emir Abdullahi Ado Bayero.

Ganduje’s Tuesday declaration and affirmation of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano came as a huge surprise to many.

Ganduje and Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II were sighted at the Kano Government House on Tuesday openly exchanging pleasantries.

Emir Sanusi and Ganduje were among thousands of people who stormed the Kano Government House to witness the swearing-in ceremony of Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State.

Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, also witnessed the event as Murtala Sule Garo took the Oath of Office.

The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, in the presence of top government officials, lawmakers, traditional rulers, and party stakeholders.

Among the dignitaries at the event were former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau; Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin; and the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, among others.
